No matter if you are a power Cisco Spark user, or a novice, there are lots of cool new features coming to Spark that will make using the application even easier and allow you to more efficiently communicate with others on your team. One such feature is One Button To Push (OBTP) or better known as the Big Green Button.
This feature is in early field trials today and it brings a feature that we all know and love from our CUCM registered room devices, to our Spark registered devices. This will allow a single touch access to meetings for our end users. No more worrying about the meeting dial-in number, or passcode, or even a long URI string to dial. A user can simply walk into a room, go over to the Touch panel, and press the green “Join” button. It is that easy.
The best thing about it is that the infrastructure at your location required to enable this feature is less than you think. All you need is a Hybrid Services calendar connector, a cloud-registered Cisco endpoint, and Microsoft Exchange/O365.
Another feature I like is called Announcement Mode. Space moderators may now choose to turn on Announcement Mode which limits the creation of new content, or posts, to only allow moderators to post. The space participants may continue to access the content of the space but cannot post new messages, add files, create whiteboards, schedule new meetings or initiate a call to the space. Note that moderators can turn this mode off at any time. This feature is available in Desktop, Web and Mobile clients of Cisco Spark.
Once Announcement mode is turned on...
Only moderators can create new content
Space participants can flag posts, download files, favorite or leave the space
Moderators can turn Announcement Mode on or off at any time
